Returning home for their first game since winning the 2015 2A football championship, the Bayfield Wolverines wanted to continue the redemption they won in their Sept. 2 win over Bloomfield, N.M.
That was after they had a tough 0-19 loss in San Juan, Utah, on Aug. 26 to open the 2016 season.
Making two touchdowns early in the first quarter, the Wolverines took the field by storm against the 5A Aztec Tigers.
In the third quarter, they continued their domination over Aztec after Ryan Phelps took in Bayfield’s fourth touchdown of the evening, taking the Wolverines to 27-7.
The Tigers came back at the end of the third however, scoring another touchdown for a 27-14 score with one second remaining in the quarter.
Carl Heide came back to score another touchdown in the fourth for the Wolverines, taking the score to 34-14 in the middle of the fourth quarter.
