Senior guard Taed Heydinger followed up a 20-point performance in Bayfield’s 62-47 win over 3A Farmington (N.M.) Navajo Prep last Saturday with a team-best 22 in an 84-51 rout of a 2A/1A San Juan Basin League opponent Tuesday night, as BHS improved to 4-6 overall (0-1 3A Intermountain).
Sophomore post Ryan Phelps registered 16 points and eight rebounds against MHS (3-5, 2-1 SJBL) after getting the Eagles for 17 and nine, and sophomore guard Hunter Killough netted 13 points.
Bayfield led 26-12 after one quarter and 47-24 through two, despite Mancos senior Andrew Plunkett’s efforts which yielded a MHS-best 16 points. Senior Adrian Hernandez scored 12 and senior Andrew Christensen dropped ten.
The Wolverines will resume IML play at home tonight versus Monte Vista (5-6, 1-1).
