The 35th annual Animas River Days will take place at Santa Rita Park and will include multiple competitions, vendor booths and food. There will also be a parade down the river and a late-night dance party.

Registration will begin Friday at the park and will be accepted up to 30 minutes before an event for an additional $5 charge.

Animas River Day Events
Friday

5-8 p.m.: Event registration at Santa Rita Park. Registration will be accepted up to 30 minutes before the start of an event but will cost $5 per event.6-7 p.m.: Preliminaries for pro freestyle kayak.

Saturday

Adopt-A-thon

The La Plata County Humane Society. 1111 South Camino del Rio, will host its 16th annual Adopt-A-Thon from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

All adult animal’s adoption fees will be reduced.

Adult cats will be $10 and adult dogs will be $50.

XROCK 105.3 FM and Four Corners Broadcasting KQIQ 101 FM and KRSJ 100.5 FM will broadcast live from the event.
