For the better part of a decade, Jeff met resistance from the majority of the old board and management of LPEA in adopting common-sense strategies to increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency within the LPEA system. But in recent years, we’ve seen the predictable outcome of the old board’s antiquated thinking: rising energy prices. And we’re guaranteed to see those rising prices if we keep relying on fossil-fuel energy sources in the future. Alternately, the sun, the wind and gravity will continue be free. Additionally, Jeff’s good work might all be for naught if he doesn’t have enough like-minded individuals on the board, which is why I’m also supporting District 4’s Alison Dance for the LPEA board. She is a seasoned businessperson and a dedicated, generous Durangoan who understands how to cooperatively get things done. She’s a good organizer with a good head on her shoulders and will responsibly help Jeff and the rest of the board usher in practical changes that will guarantee us – and future generations – cleaner, more dependable and more affordable electricity.
