There were no first-match jitters for the Bayfield High School volleyball team, who swept San Juan High School in Blanding, Utah, on Thursday night in straight sets.

There were no first-set jitters for that matter, either. The Wolverines cruised 25-5 in the opening frame behind junior setter Suzie Rhodes, who served 17 consecutive points to give Bayfield a 22-2 advantage.

Bayfield took the second set 25-23 and the third 25-17.

Freshman libero Maddi Foutz led BHS with 17 digs and eight service aces, according to an email from first-year head coach Terene Foutz to The Durango Herald late Thursday night.

BHS had 10 blocks in the match.

Bayfield will continue its season at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Montezuma-Cortez.
