I fell in love with teaching. But as all young adults, I wanted to find some adventure, so after college, I moved to Durango. When deciding to go back to school to earn my teaching license, I knew it would be stressful to continue going deeper into debt, but that didn’t stop me from enrolling at Fort Lewis College.

Being a recipient of the Robert M. Barr & Roberta Armstrong Barr Scholarship gave me support that will carry through the rest of my semesters at FLC. Roberta Barr is an excellent role model for all future teachers, reminding us to always “pay it forward” to others who give it their best and to immerse ourselves in students’ lives and motivate them to achieve greatness. I am so very appreciative of the generosity that Roberta Barr and her husband had for this community. I am also proud to be part of such an amazing foundation.
