Shirley Young wed Robert Butler in Durango on Aug. 21, 1948. This photo captures the wedding party entering St. Columba Church, with the corner of 18th Street and East Second Avenue in the background. Shirley is escorted by her father, Herb Young, while her younger brother, William Young, performs as a groomsman, positioned at the far left as they ascend the steps. The bride’s parents owned Schluter Floral Co., likely providing the flower arrangements for the ceremony. – Ed Horvat for Animas Museum, edhorvat@animasmuseum.org (Catalog Number: 23.54.570 from the La Plata County Historical Society Photo Collections)
