75 years ago: An advertisement for Gladys Clark’s Beauty Shop, 990½ Main Ave., read: “Look your best … It pays! Permanent wave specials for pre-Christmas season. $6.50 oil permanent-special … $5 with extra shampoo and finger wave free. Machineless permanents … $3-$5. Good machine wave … $2.”
50 years ago: This appeared in the section called Dryside News: “Mr. and Mrs. Charles Payne were hosts to a group of youngsters for the regular teen party. The teens had a hayride and then refreshments and games at the Payne home.”
25 years ago: “Amoco Production Co. will pay more than $62,000 for its share of road improvements on two county roads north of Bayfield. The costs are part of the requirements Amoco must meet to install a water-injection well off County Road 505.”
