75 years ago: “Fire completely destroyed the Los Banos baths, the large 400-feet square bathhouse owned by Joe Hersch at Pagosa Springs.”

50 years ago: “The Durango Herald expects to complete a $300,000 expansion program by the end of September. The Ballantines signed a contract for the construction of a 13,696 sq. ft. two-level plant at 1275 Main Ave., This is 2½ times the present size of the Herald quarters at 1022 Main Ave. Construction will begin in March.”

25 years ago: “La Plata Community Hospital will attempt to refinance more than a $1.1 million loan by Feb. 22 to repay a savings-and-loan company for money that was borrowed during the mid-1980s to finance the construction of the Medical Office Building. In a motion field in District Court, Community said it will make other arrangements if it cannot secure financing in 26 days to repay First Federal Savings and Loan of Fargo, N.D. the full $1,140,000. The MOB was built to attract more doctors to the tax-supported hospital.”
