75 years ago: “Mae’s Beauty Salon changed hands when Mrs. Frances Risley purchased the holding from the former owner. The beauty salon is located at 920½ Main Ave., above Richey’s store. The new owner will retain the old name of Mae’s Beauty Salon and will feature many new innovations in beauty culture.”

50 years ago: ALLISON – “The brief shower we had early morning was a pleasant change from the snow squalls of recent weeks. The wheat fields and pastures are showing green, and everybody is beginning to perk up and take a new lease on life.”

25 years ago: “About 3,000 recycling containers – blue bins about the size of a large beer cooler, with the city’s logo on front – will be distributed to Durango residences. Distribution of the containers marks the beginning of the city’s program to recycle newspapers, glass and aluminum cans.”
