75 years ago: “A new three-cent stamp commemorating 50 years of Idaho’s statehood was placed on sale. The stamp, a purplish-lavender, bears the picture of Idaho’s capital at Boise.”

50 years ago: “The nightly Indian ceremonials presented by the Alfred Draper family, Navajos from Fruitland, New Mexico, are a popular tourist attraction. The Indians perform at the new amphitheater located in Rio Grande-land at the southwest corner of the depot. The ceremonials are sponsored by the Durango Jaycees and this part of the program is followed each night by a slide show, movie or talk presented by the Forest Service or National Park Service.”

25 years ago: “La Plata Community Hospital and members got bad news as Interim Chief Financial Officer Nancy Heck announced that May’s new losses were $28,665 greater than the $134,351 reported in the June 26 draft monthly financial statement.”
