75 years ago: “Ghosts, witches and goblins gathered at the home of Jean Adams to celebrate Halloween. A haunted tunnel, games and fortunes, as well as ‘cats’ filled the evening with merriment.”

50 years ago: “Halloween came early, with hordes of youngsters out on the trick-and-treat circuit, numerous householders reported to the Herald.”

25 years ago: “Residents upset over the disheveled state of County Road 502 have submitted petitions with more than 100 signatures to the La Plata County Commissioners and plan to ask the county to investigate the quality of work already done on the road. … In 1988, the county approved funds to tear up and repave CR 502, rather than just make spot repairs. The pavement was removed but the county did not have enough funding to pave the road until this year.”
