75 years ago: Three Durango boys who “wanted to see some more of this world,” but didn’t want to register for military service, departed Durango to take a trip up north.

50 years ago: Thirty-two bulls were sold at an average of $439 each at the first annual San Juan Basin Hereford Assn. bull sale at the Cortez Livestock Commission Co., in Cortez. The highest-selling bull was purchased for $590 by Reed Bayless of Monticello, Utah.

25 years ago: A man with white hair and a goatee allegedly assaulted someone at the Billy Goat Saloon in Gem Village.
