75 years ago: “Students of the Durango High School’s public speaking class will present a speech recital. The recital will consist of the reading of dramatic and humorous selections, poems and orations. In addition there will be a violin solo and a one-act play.”

25 years ago: “City sales-tax revenues continue to climb by 6.9 percent in 1989, a pace not seen in five years. The revenues, one indicator of the local economy, rose by 4.2 percent in February compared with the same month a year ago.”
