75 years ago: “Fort Lewis College’s new library building is nearly completed and during the latter part of this week the contractors will turn the building over to the college for occupation. As it stands unfinished, the new building’s cost is approximately $35,000. A one-story structure, it adds much to the appearance of the college campus.”

50 years ago: The following appeared in the section titled Bayfield News: “The Bayfield area was glad to get the moisture that came this past week, but residents say they don’t like the cold wind and the frost that followed. Many are worried about their early blooming flowers getting frozen. The snow is leaving and some of the streams are high and muddy and side roads are a mess.”

25 years ago: “Now they’re going to be dark green. It took a bit of doggerel, a lot of wrangling and some visual aids, but the Durango City Council finally decided the color for historic streetlight posts. Dark green. The color isn’t the sage green recommended by the Design Review Board. The color isn’t black that residents had petitioned for. It’s a compromise – dark green.”
