The three major oil corporations – Standard, Powerine and Texas – have their bulk plants concentrated in the area around Sixth Street and Railroad Avenue.”
50 years ago: “The La Plata County swimming pool is perfectly OK. There have been rumors that an organism there was causing a fungus infection. Not so, says Dr. J.A. Browing. There have been two cases of swimmers’ ear irritation, he reported, but these were to be expected as the two youngsters spend all their waking hours in the pool.”
