The personhood amendment would take away a woman’s ability to make the choice to end a pregnancy when she has been raped, is the victim of incest or when her health is at risk. It would restrict access to birth control like the pill, IUD and emergency contraception, as they can prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus. Giving legal and constitutional rights to fertilized eggs would ban in-vitro fertilization for women who want to have a family.

Those are just three examples of how this amendment goes too far and interferes with women’s health. I think we all agree on the importance of protecting women from violence, but Amendment 67 is not the way.
