Christopher Ellis, 31, driving a 2008 GMC pickup westbound on Highway 160, made a left turn in front of an eastbound 2001 Dodge pickup driven by Michael Maez, 41, of La Jara.
Ellis was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center, then flown to St. Anthony Hospital, where he was in critical condition Friday, St. Anthony spokeswoman Loralee Sturm said.
The accident occurred at 7:59 a.m. Wednesday.
