You better break every bulb if both teams are shooting the lights out.

The Fort Lewis College men’s basketball team outlasted Colorado Christian 87-82 on Friday in Lakewood on a night when both teams shot above 40 percent.

But FLC (11-4, 8-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) made 49.2 percent of its shots, 6-of-17 from behind the arc, to eke out a close victory.

Colorado Christian came into the game third in the country in scoring at 92.4 points per game, so FLC held the Cougars 10 points below their average.

The Skyhawks led by three with five seconds left after the Cougars’ Wayne McCullough hit a layup to cut the Cougars’ deficit to one possession.

Oscar Garcia sank two free throws with two seconds left to ice the Skyhawks’ third consecutive road win and seventh victory in their last eight games.

Colorado Christian made 28-of-36 free throws compared to just 21-of-29 for FLC.

Alex Herrera scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the double-double.

Nick Tomsick joined him in double figures with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the free throw line.

Colorado Christian led 63-62 with 10 minutes, 6 seconds remaining in the game when Garcia made a layup to give FLC a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
