This name goes by Dan Rose, and his Week 7 Gridiron Green was pretty sweet.

The DRose from Mancos, not to be confused with the DRose from Chicago but similar to his namesake in prodigious production, has put up his share of double-digit games.

Week 2 – 13 out of 16.

Week 4 – 11 out of 15.

Week 5 – 10 out of 14.

Week 7 – 13 out of 15.

Last week’s fragrance peddled – or petaled, if you will – Rose a Week 7 victory via a tiebreaker. But there’s scant time to stop and smell the flowers; Rose and his 62-point total trails (Mr.) bojangles by 16 points atop the Green leaderboard.

And, if I may, Rose trails the Gridiron Guru by four points in the overall standings.

The Guru went 9-6 in Week 7, with such pearls as Indianapolis over Denver and such pills as Jacksonville over San Diego.

Alas, the Jaguars remain defeated, while the Kansas City Chiefs remain the only undefeated team in the NFL.

Week 8

Bye: Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, San Diego, Tennessee.

Thursday, Oct. 24

Carolina at Tampa Bay (NFL Network) – The good cats showed up last weekend against the Rams, and that’s two weeks in a row. Let the good cats roll. Pick: Panthers, 17-10. Line: Panthers by 6.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Cleveland at Kansas City (KCNC, KREZ) – Weeden. Hoyer. Weeden. Campbell. Try Smith, Alex Smith. Pick: Chiefs, 13-7. Line: Chiefs by 7.

Buffalo at New Orleans – Welcome to the Big Easy, boys. Pick: Saints, 27-17. Line: Saints by 12½.

Miami at New England – Without little to scare opposing defenses, the Brady Bunch is struggling. Pick: Dolphins, 23-20. Line: Patriots by 7.

Dallas at Detroit (KASA) – The shootout in Philly never materialized. The shootout in Motown will, at least in favor of the Bushes, Johnsons and Staffords. Pick: Lions, 23-21. Line: Lions by 3.

N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia – Foles was concussed; Barkley was overmatched; Vick is back, and that should be enough. Pick: Eagles, 24-20. Line: Eagles by 6.

San Francisco vs. Jacksonville, at London – The Jaguars have lost in six different states so far this season, including Colorado; now they get to lose in a different country. Pick: 49ers, 30-10. Line: 49ers by 16½.

Pittsburgh at Oakland – Raiders break from their bye with a home game. Pick: Raiders, 17-16. Line: Steelers by 3.

N.Y. Jets at Cincinnati – Watch out for these kitty-cats. Pick: Bengals, 20-16. Line: Bengals by 6½.

Atlanta at Arizona – Cardinals win; it is after all October. Pick: Cardinals, 17-16. Line: Cardinals by 2½.

Washington at Denver (KASA; KRSJ 100.5 FM) – Broncos’ bump in the road smoothed over in Shanahan’s return. Pick: Broncos, 37-31. Line: Broncos by 13.

Green Bay at Minnesota (KOBF, KUSA) – Freeman was concussed, so Ponder is back … riiiight. Pick: Packers, 30-13. Line: Packers by 10.

Monday, Oct. 28

Seattle at St. Louis (ESPN) – This could get ugly in a hurry for St. Louis. Pick: Seahawks, 23-3. Line: Seahawks by 11.
