Daniel Orris was this week’s Gridiron Guru. DO86 was the only local to score 15 out of 16, and his money pick was Seattle over San Francisco in the Pacific Northwest.

I can at least claim that “upset” on my Week 2 roster; I finished 9-7 – one better than opening week – to run my record to 17-15.

Hey, it’s improvement.

Look at Orris, he finished one worse than me Week 1 with only 7 out of 16 right.

There’s hope for all of us.

On a grander scale, Glen Loppnow of Wisconsin picked his Packers to win, then got the other 15 right, too, to make it two weeks in a row the national champion went 16-for-16.

Thursday, Sept. 19

Kansas City at Philadelphia, (NFL Network) – Andy Reid is back, and so is Donovan McNabb, who will have his No. 5 retired at halftime. He better hope the Eagles are winning, or he might be the first to get booed by the home town on his big day. Pick: Eagles, 33-30. Line: Eagles by 3.

Sunday, Sept. 22

San Diego at Tennessee – So far anyway, Philip Rivers is playing like the QB of old. Pick: Chargers, 24-23. Line: Titans by 3.

Arizona at New Orleans – The Saints are building a defense to go with their offense. Pick: Saints, 40-30. Line: Saints by 8.

St. Louis at Dallas (KASA) – Bradford the Boomer Sooner knows what it takes to upset Texas. Pick: Rams, 24-23. Line: Cowboys by 4.

Cleveland at Minnesota – I don’t think Hoyer for Weeden is considered a cure for what ails you, and now the Browns have no running back, too. Pick: Vikings, 20-9. Line: Vikings by 5.

Houston at Baltimore (KCNC, KREZ) – Joe Cool might be without Ray Rice. Pick: Texans, 20-16. Line: Texans by 2.

N.Y. Giants at Carolina – The Book of Eli consists of a lot of touchdowns and a lot of interceptions. That’ll work this weekend. Pick: Giants, 30-24. Line: Panthers by 1½.

Detroit at Washington – RGIII is going to need some time to warm up. Pick: Redskins, 29-28. Line: Redskins by 2½.

Tampa Bay at New England – The Patriots are struggling. The Buccaneers are struggling more. Pick: Patriots, 19-17. Line: Patriots by 7½.

Green Bay at Cincinnati – A-Rog and the boys rally at Paul Brown on the Bengals. Pick: Packers, 24-21. Line: Packers by 1.

Atlanta at Miami – My money is on Matty Ice finding a way to win in South Beach. Pick: Falcons, 23-20. Line: Dolphins by 1½.

Indianapolis at San Francisco (KCNC, KREZ) – Harbaugh hosts Luck, his star college QB from Stanford. Oh, and the QB has a new toy, too: The Colts traded a 2014 first-round pick to the Browns for Trent Richardson on Wednesday. Pick: 49ers, 27-24. Line: 49ers by 10½.

Jacksonville at Seattle – San Francisco can’t even win at Seattle. Pick: Seahawks, 31-10. Line: Seahawks by 19½.

Buffalo at N.Y. Jets – Manuel vs. Smith could be fun. Pick: Jets, 17-16. Line: Jets by 2.

Chicago at Pittsburgh (NBC Sports) – It’s hard to imagine the Steelers’ franchise at 0-3, but that’s a very real possibility. Pick: Bears, 22-10. Line: Bears by 2.

Monday, Sept. 23

Oakland at Denver (ESPN; KRSJ 100.5 FM) – Here’s the deal: Chris Clark is no Ryan Clady, and there simply is no (Winston) Justice in the “Super Bowl good” Denver Broncos losing their left tackle – aka Peyton Manning’s blindside protector – just two weeks into the regular season. The loss, as big as it is (6-6, 315 pounds, $52.5 million), won’t hurt the Broncos just yet – even against the surprisingly good 4½-sacks-per-game Oakland Raiders. Pick: Broncos, 37-13. Line: Broncos by 14½.
