The Merriam-Webster online dictionary (merriam-webster.com) defines hypocrisy as “ … feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not.” Synonyms include deceit and deception.

I find it highly hypocritical that the Trump administration supports Iranian people protesting against their government but not Americans protesting against ours (even though we have a constitutional right to do so).

Iranian protests have been violent, with protesters burning buildings. Trump criticized Oregon protesters who did the same following the George Floyd murder and claims violent protests continue here. Why is it OK for violent protests in Iran but not here?

Trump warns the Iranian government against harming the protesters, saying he’ll take military action against them. Yet he took no action as the Jan. 6, 2021, rioters violently stormed the U.S. Capitol, beat police officers and defiled the building, among other offenses. Then he pardoned them when he took office in 2025. Huh?

Trump campaigned on not getting the U.S. involved in foreign conflicts. Yet he took military action in Venezuela, is threatening it in Iran and even Greenland! If that’s not hypocrisy, I don’t know what is.
