When I was 18 years old, I raised my right hand and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. That oath never expires. It’s why I’m running for Congress.

I graduated from West Point and served for seven years as a U.S. Army Engineer Officer during the Persian Gulf War. It was a tremendous opportunity that I never took for granted, and I have spent my whole life since trying to pay it forward. Now, I’m running for Congress because Donald Trump and the MAGA movement are threatening the freedoms and the democratic values I fought to protect. In Congress, I’ll stand up to Trump’s attacks on our democracy, protect mail-in voting that rural Colorado depends on, and defend the Constitution from anyone who tries to undermine it.

After the Army, I came home to Colorado and raised a family with my wife, Margaret. We raised three daughters here and just celebrated our 35th anniversary here. I also built a small business here and served on the school board, city council, fire district, and water board. I fought for affordable housing and better schools because I believe public service is about solving problems and helping communities thrive.

We can’t sit by as politicians like Trump and Jeff Hurd are making life harder for Colorado families. I was raised by a single mom on minimum wage and food stamps. I know what it means when the basics feel out of reach. And right now, too many families across our district are feeling exactly that.

In Congress, I’ll fight to protect rural health care and make sure families can see a doctor close to home. I know families are feeling squeezed by rising costs – I’ve lived that struggle myself. I’ll fight to lower costs at the grocery store and pharmacy, bring down housing costs, and stand up to the corporations and special interests driving prices higher. I’ll stand up to any politician who wants to cut Social Security and Medicare. I’ll fight hard for accountability in government and to protect the rule of law. Congress exists to represent the people, not to rubber-stamp the president’s agenda.

I’ve spent my life fighting for what matters – my country, my family, and my community. In Congress, I’ll fight for Colorado families every single day. I’d be honored to earn your support.
