Have you heard of Phil Weiser for governor? Maybe not, or maybe only from the Herald’s disappointing headline (Herald, April 13), “Weiser takes aim at Bennet at Durango event.”
Michael Bennet is also running for governor. With his 16 years as a U.S. senator, Bennet has greater name recognition than Phil Weiser, yet the Herald’s headline certainly did not favor Weiser. The article seemed better suited for the opinion page.
I attended the event hoping to see the two candidates together, but Bennet decided not to appear. Phil Weiser was there for Coloradans who are often ignored by Front Range politicians. He gave thoughtful, informed answers to questions from the audience. Many of those questions had multiple parts, and he answered each one — not deflecting, grandstanding or forgetting part of the question.
Check out his website philforcolorado.com, as well as those of the other candidates. Educate yourself and vote in the upcoming primary.
Phil Weiser may not have Michael Bennet’s name recognition, but he has my vote. Please don’t vote on name recognition alone. Look where that got us nationally — twice.
