Jade Pruett reads “The Warmth of Other Suns,” by Isabel Wilkerson, on Saturday in the window of Maria’s Bookshop in downtown Durango. Pruett is participating the Maria’s Literary Foundation’s second annual Read-A-Thon. Sponsored volunteers read in the window for an hour at a time during store hours raising money for the Reading Room. Last year, the event raised $10,000 along with a matching donation from Maria’s. The fundraiser goes through April 20. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
