First United Methodist Church of Durango, 2917 Aspen Drive, will host its 40th annual Holiday Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
In addition to local vendors with a variety of holiday items, the church will have two craft rooms, a plant parlor, tables with homemade baked goods and a “Trash & Treasures” room.
There will be refreshments throughout the day, including coffee, pastries and homemade pie by the slice for breakfast, and a traditional sloppy-joe luncheon beginning at 11 a.m.
All proceeds will go to missions.

Film to be screened at Durango library
The League of Women Voters of La Plata County and Durango Public Library will host the local Great Decisions series event “Abu Dhabi: A Cross Cultural Exchange” from 11:45 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 1900 East Third Ave, Program Room 2.
This is a film by Kim Martin in which women in Abu Dhabi respond to questions posed by Durango women.
Participants should bring a brown-bag lunch.
High Country Gardeners to meet Wednesday
Durango High Country Gardeners will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Get Fused, 600 Main Ave., Suite 112.
The group will make glass creations after a short meeting. A light lunch will be served.

PBS series episode to be shown at FLC
The Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College has partnered with Rocky Mountain PBS to host the regional premier of “The Original Coloradans,” with Executive Producer and Director Julie Speer in attendance, at 6 p.m. Monday.
Produced by Rocky Mountain PBS and History Colorado, “The Original Coloradans” is part of a 13-episode television series dedicated to preserving and celebrating the people, events and places that have shaped Colorado. This episode tells the story of the Ute Nation, presenting the Utes as “the original residents of Colorado,” and traces their lasting impact on the state.
The 30-minute documentary will screen at 6 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with Speer, Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs Executive Director Ernest House Jr. and Ute tribal leaders.

Ignacio board announces vacancy
The town of Ignacio announces a vacancy on the board of trustees.
People interested in serving as a trustee must file an application form with the town clerk at Town Hall by 5 p.m. Dec. 10. People must be 18 years of age, a registered voter and a resident of the town for the last 12 consecutive months.
An appointment will be made by the board at the Dec. 10 meeting. The appointment will be until the next regular election on April 1, 2014.
