Southern Ute Community Action Programs Inc. in Ignacio announces that its Youth Services Division has restructured staffing to better serve the community.
A division director position has been added while retaining two full-time program managers and several part-time employees. The change will allow for increased capacity and increased diversity in programming while maintaining greater fidelity to grant obligations.
Programming currently being provided by SUCAP Youth Services includes: Club Venture, a character development program; Curiosity, an academic enrichment program; Peer Leaders Uniting Students, a leadership and bully-prevention program; and Friday drop-in programming at the Teen Center and Overdrive events.

Bonecutter has been a licensed real estate agent since 1988 and holds both New Mexico and Colorado licenses. She has a background in business/psychology with bachelor’s degrees from the University of New Mexico.

Consulting available on Affordable Care Act
The Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center and Connect for Health Colorado are providing consulting services to small businesses to help them comply with the new Affordable Care Act.
Sue McWilliams of Lewis is the new Connect for Health Colorado small business health options coordinator. She will serve the Southwest Colorado and the central Western Slope.
McWilliams will consult with businesses that have between two and 50 employees and explain the options and tax benefits for employers who provide health insurance.
She attended a 30-hour online training course and had 25 hours of in-person training to become certified by the state to provide the assistance to businesses. She also can evaluate current health-care programs and make recommendations to help business owners.

First Southwest Bank announces new hire
First Southwest Bank announces the hiring of Cassie Alexander as the Durango branch’s newest commercial lender.
Alexander comes to the bank after more than six years with the Region 9 Economic Development District. There, she worked as the company’s business development specialist and loan officer, helping business owners in the Durango area obtain funding and access resources to kick-start and grow operations.
A multigenerational Mancos native and Fort Lewis College graduate, Alexander brings with her a wealth of small-business lending knowledge as well as a love and commitment to growing Southwest Colorado.

Durango Rocks event tickets available
The 2013 Durango Rocks Awards Event will take place Jan. 23 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.
A reception will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $25 before Jan. 1 and $30 after.
