So, are Telluride’s officials smarter than ours or do they just work harder? Ours would rather argue about plastic bags and raising taxes to pay for foolish programs instead of picking up a revenue stream right in front of their faces.
Whether you agree with the law or not, it is the law, and one of our elected officials’ jobs is to get money to pay for operating the city and county. The 25 percent recreational pot tax is the law, so sell it and tax it. Guess it is easier to raise the taxes we all pay instead of working on implementing recreational pot sales in the city and county.
How much revenue will we miss out on during these moratoriums? Probably tens of millions.
Do these officials know who they work for?
Maybe our local government officials need a moratorium from their jobs since it seems like they are already on vacation. Something to think about next time there is a new tax on the ballot.
