Solarize La Plata, a grass-roots program with the goal of installing solar photovoltaic systems on 100 homes in the area, will offer information presentations from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield, and at 1 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Ignacio Public Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.
People will learn about harnessing their own residential solar energy and this time-limited program that comes with process monitoring and financing programs.
The public can view operating solar systems working for the host families at the Morrissey residence, 589 Wildcat Trail (Trappers Crossing) from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Higgins residence, 383 County Road 225. Solarize La Plata representatives will be on hand to answer questions.

Development code to be discussed
The city of Durango will host a public meeting about the draft Land Use and Development Code from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 949 East Second Ave.
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the code at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in council chambers.
The code sets out rules for the use and development of land within city limits and is in the process of being updated. Tuesday’s public meeting will offer community members an opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on the new code.

Daybreak Rotary Club to meet Wednesday
Durango Daybreak Rotary Club will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Jim Novack will present “dZi Foundation’s Work in Nepal.” Novack is founder of the dZi Foundation, a nonprofit based in Nepal that partners with underserved communities in remote regions of the Himalayas to build sustainable, locally driven programs that improve quality of life through advancing education and health while reducing poverty.
