Zane Phelps and Bayfield High School have reached the CHSAA Class 3A Intermountain League District Tournament on a high note. They finished the season with three consecutive victories, an 11-8 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the IML, which earned the Wolverines the No. 3 seed in the league playoffs. “We feel good about where we are standing, and we have played some good basketball coming down the stretch,” BHS boys basketball head coach Randy Stephens said after the Wolverines’ regular-season finale last week at Alamosa. “We are going to be on Monte Vista’s floor, and that is fine. We want another shot at them. We need to step up and get the job done.” BHS, which finished the regular season 6-0 on its home court, will play the second-seeded Pirates (13-6, 5-3 IML) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Monte Vista.
