As a senior at Animas High School and the daughter of a founder, I have witnessed AHS grow from an inkling of an idea to a vibrant and lively community. Marina Muzzell’s accident was unfortunate, but to blame Animas is absurd. The incident occurred on rented property after school hours, and she was attending a function neither affiliated with the school nor held in the building.

There are legitimate reasons to sue, and there are accidents one must take personal responsibility for.

I am sincerely sorry about the injuries that occurred, but using the slip to take advantage of a nonprofit charter school is inappropriate. The books taken from students and the time certainly taken from the administration and board due to this situation is an incredible injustice.

A lawsuit will only multiply the damage done.
