Things are looking up for Christie Groh and the Fort Lewis College women’s basketball team. After a potential season-ending loss to Black Hills State in the RMAC Shootout quarterfinals Tuesday at Whalen Gymnasium, the Skyhawks, nonetheless got a boost in the South Central regional rankings. Based on the merit of its upset victory over then-No. 2 Colorado Mesa in its regular-season finale, FLC climbed the ranks from 10th to seventh Wednesday; the top eight teams from the region will qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The women’s basketball selection show is 8 p.m. Sunday. The FLC men’s basketball team, which will play No. 1 Metro State in an RMAC Shootout semifinal Friday in Denver, remained unranked in the South Central region.
