The Four Corners Region of the National Association of Social Workers will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Commons Building in the first floor conference room, 701 Camino del Rio.
Wanda Ellingson, association member and local social worker, will present an overview of her sabbatical experiences at the Centres for Indigenous Education and Research and the Schools of Social Work in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia. The role the Centres play in the education and support of Aboriginal and Torrey Straight Islanders will be examined. There also will be a discussion on the similarities and differences of the Native American tribal history as it compares to the Aboriginal history. An overview of the “Getting It Right: Creating Partnerships for Change – Integrating Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Knowledges in Social Work Education and Practice” will be presented.
Ignacio library to host Internet privacy class
The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will host “Privacy & the Internet” at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Economist to speak at home builders
Economist Elliot Eisenberg will be the guest speaker at the Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
From his former post as a senior economist with the National Association of Home Builders, Eisenberg now travels, helping people understand the economy and how it affects their businesses and lives. From his presentation – “Will the Real Economy Please Stand Up?” – people will hear an economic forecast and insights for strategic business development.
Check-in and an open cash bar will begin at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers, and includes dinner.

Parkinson’s group to meet Thursday
The Parkinson’s Support and Education Group meets the third Thursday of every month.
The next meeting will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive. The guest speaker will be Clay Sullwold, a chiropractor discussing new research on Parkinson’s.

Durango Bird Club to host Wednesday walk
A bird walk will be hosted by the Durango Bird Club at 9 a.m. Wednesday at For the Birds, 1560 East Second Ave.
