DUI crackdown occuring over holiday weekend
The Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement will host The Heat Is On campaign, where law enforcement will crack down on impaired drivers throughout the summer, with a first major effort happening over Memorial Day weekend.
This year, to go along with the increased enforcement, CDOT has created informational cards about impaired driving in Colorado to be handed out at DUI checkpoints across the state.

Soil-building workshop to be held in Mancos
A “Beginners Soil Building Workshop” will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mancos Public Library, 211 E. First St., Mancos. The workshop is free. Participants will learn simple, low-cost, techniques to build healthy soil and help prepare sites for heritage fruit trees to be planted at the library. Rotary club to feature botanical society guest
The Rotary Club of Durango will feature Melanie Palmer, an officer of the Durango Botanical Society, which is a science and education organization dedicated to sustainable and water-wise horticulture in the Durango area, at its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave. Visitors are welcome. Ignacio library announces events
The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will offer these programs:
“All the World’s a Stage Drama Workshop” will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. June 4 to 6. The workshop is open to children from 9 to 12 years old.
