The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners seeks someone interested in serving on the Ignacio Community Library District Board.

The board oversees the operation and administration of the Ignacio Community Library. Terms are five years, and applicants must reside within the boundaries of the district. This position is advisory and is not monetarily compensated. Humane Society to host adopt-a-thon

The La Plata County Humane Society will celebrate its 12th annual Adopt-a-thon from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the shelter, 1111 South Camino del Rio.

The thrift store will have extended hours as well. Adult animals will have reduced adoption fees; adult cats will be $10, and adult dogs will be $50. There will be a concession stand selling burgers, brats, hot dogs, drinks and snow cones. XRock 105.3FM with Jamie Osborne will be onsite on Friday, and Ed Lacy from Four Corners Broadcasting will be onsite Saturday.

Divorce, custody seminar to be held

A “Doing Your Own Divorce and/or Custody in Colorado” will be the topic of a free seminar at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Anasazi Room of the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 East Second Ave.

The seminar will be presented by a volunteer attorney from Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid.

Ignacio library to host legal clinic

A free legal clinic for parties who have no attorney will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on the second Friday of each month at the Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.

By computer link, volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help fill out forms and explain the process and procedure for all areas of civil litigation, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims and civil-protection orders.

Donation account established for local

A donation account has been established for Carol Wells at First National Bank of Durango.

Donations will be used by Wells, who works at south City Market, for traveling expenses to visit her 3-year-old grandson in California, who is severely ill. Donations of air miles also will be accepted.
