Trails 2000 to host trail work
Trails 2000 will host trail work from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday on Log Chutes, just above the Colorado Trail trailhead in Durango,
Trails 2000 will provide tools, instruction, food and water. Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeved shirts, closed-toe shoes, sun hats and sunscreen. They should also bring a water bottle.

Meeting to discuss Lake Nighthorse
The Bureau of Reclamation will hold a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. June 18 in the Eolus and Sunlight meeting rooms at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
The meeting will be about recreation at Lake Nighthorse, part of the Animas-La Plata Project. Reclamation will provide a brief presentation, and the public will be able to ask questions and look at maps and plans about recreation at Lake Nighthorse. Currently, Reclamation is working with all Animas-La Plata Project partners and stakeholders to reach consensus regarding development and management of recreation at Lake Nighthorse. Regular meetings are conducted with partners and stakeholders to discuss and resolve a broad range of issues concerning water quality, environmental protection and tribal trust responsibilities of the United States government.

Barrel horse race series to begin Saturday
The National Barrel Horse Association will host the “Race for the Buckle,” a 4D Barrel Race Series beginning Saturday at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, 30100 U.S. Highway 160 in Cortez.
The cost is $40 for open class, $30 for 4D youth, $30 for 4D senior and $10 for nonmembers. These are all sanctioned National Barrel Horse Association races, but people do not have to be a member to participate. The series will continue on June 28 in Durango, July 12 in Cortez, July 26 in Ignacio, Aug. 9 in Cortez and Aug. 23 in Durango.

Habitat for Humanity seeking volunteers
Habitat for Humanity seeks volunteers to help with the Contractor’s Yard Sale a fundraiser benefiting Habitat and the Homebuilder’s Association of Southwest Colorado.
Volunteers should be able to lift 30 pounds. Shifts are available on June 20 and two shifts on June 21.
