In 1989, the Black Tiger Fire swept residential areas in Boulder County, destroying 44 homes and burning almost 2,100 acres.

July 6 marked the 20th anniversary of the South Canyon Fire near Glenwood Springs that killed 14 firefighters.

As a precaution, this week the Denver office of Federal Emergency Management Administration, the National Fire Protection Association and the U.S. Forest Service will offer advice on how to prevent wildfires.
