Small Business Majority’s opinion polling found the vast majority of small-business owners believe we’re overdue for federal policies protecting all workers from discrimination. In fact, a striking 81 percent already thought it was illegal to fire someone for being gay or transgender, and two-thirds believe federal law should prohibit this type of discrimination. What’s more, the majority believes laws protecting against discrimination can help improve their bottom line. Small employers believe in evaluating their employees based on their work ethic, regardless of sexual orientation.

It’s time for Congress and Colorado’s legislature to pass a nondiscrimination bill that protects LGBT workers, so all employees can enjoy equal protection in the workplace.
