First, it came in and put rumble strips down the center line, and I was pleased – until I came to the Long Hollow Bridge. CDOT put a series of three rumble strips across the highway in each direction right before the bridge. My dog goes to work every day with me, and she freaks out every time we go over them; but then, I was at a neighbor’s house sitting on the porch, and all you could hear was the rumble of vehicles going over those strips – constantly.
CDOT proceeded to paint the markings again on the road and then, a couple of weeks later, chip-sealed the road! This stretch of road did not have one pothole, was smooth and great. Now, the road has bumps and uneven places, I have a crack in my windshield that is not even a month old (Yes, I was going the speed limit, but the semis coming toward you throw rocks), and CDOT had to come and restripe the road yet again.
Is CDOT bored? Does it have too much money to spend? I know there are roads that need more attention than Highway 140.
