Music in the Mountains to host presentation
Music in the Mountains invites the public for a PowerPoint presentation and talk on a planned “Spring 2015 Musical & Cultural Tour in the Czech Republic” at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This presentation will feature the many aspects of historical, natural and musical trademarks of the Czech Republic. The event will be conducted by a local Central European travel expert Frank Fristensky. Light refreshments will be provided.

Horse barrel race to be held Saturday
National Barrel Horse Association/Southwest Barrel Race Association will host a barrel race on Saturday at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, 30100 U.S. Highway 160, Cortez.
The 4D Jackpot Open has a $40 entry fee. The 4D Youth and Seniors has a $30 entry fee. The time-only runs will start at 10:30 a.m. The National Barrel Horse Association race will start at 12:30 p.m., and the Southwest Barrel Race Association race will follow. A $10 nonmember fee will apply.

Trails 2000 to host trailwork Saturday
Trails 2000 will host trailwork from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday on Basecamp and Hoody’s Trails at Durango Mountain Resort.
Located at the base of DMR, the new trail is free and open for public use. Trails 2000 provides all tools, instruction and water, which is sponsored by Philips and Hards, P.C., which will provide pizza for the work crew. Volunteers should wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes, sun hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle and rain jacket.
