Steve Ruddell of CarbonVerde, LLC will speak to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
After first presenting on the U.S. national climate policy since 2007 and where it is today, Ruddell will talk on how he is helping forestland owners access compliance and voluntary carbon offset markets. Ruddell uses market-based approaches to generate value for private and public forestland owners by developing forest-offset projects for trading carbon credits in the California cap-and-trade compliance market and carbon voluntary markets. These offset projects help forestland owners generate additional revenue that help keep their land as forests while mitigating climate change. Visitors are welcome.
