Daybreak Rotary Club to meet Wednesday

The Daybreak Rotary Club will hear a presentation by women from the Campestre Rotary Club of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

The club has been Daybreak’s sister club, an all-women club, for several years. In previous years, Daybreak has helped with hands-on service projects there, including helping with an orphanage for disabled children. Durango High School’s Interact also has done service projects in Juarez, including helping build houses in disadvantaged barrios in Juarez. Because of severe violence that gripped Juarez from 2010 to 2013, cooperation with the Campestre Club has been severely constrained, although a Christmas gift project for third-graders at a disadvantaged elementary school has continued.
