A memorial service for firefighter Nick Parks III and police officer Gale Emerson will be held at 9 a.m. in that block, where they died 40 years ago during one of Durango’s largest fires.

The block will be closed starting at 7 a.m., the street will reopen at the conclusion of the service. Alternate routes are recommended.
