The 17th Annual AIDS Awareness Benefit will hold a Family Fun Run/Walk on Sept. 20.

People can choose either the 5K run or the 1.6K walk on the Animas River Trail. Registration for the Family Fun Run/Walk is open and is $10 per person, which includes a T-shirt. In conjunction with the Family Fun Run/Walk, panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display from Sept. 16 to 20 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. All monies raised from the benefit will be used for HIV/AIDS education programs in the Four Corners and to assist people infected with HIV.

Cortez shelter to host awareness walk

The Bridge Emergency Shelter in Cortez will hold its second annual Homeless Awareness Walk today.

Registration will take place from 4:30 to 5 p.m. at the Playground Shelter at Parque de Vida. This one-mile walk is open to all. It will celebrate the community’s efforts toward the homeless. Food and monetary donations will be accepted.
