Animas City School reunion to be held
The Animas Museum will host its annual Animas City School reunion on Sept. 6.
Former students of the school are invited to an open house to reminisce and tour their former school, which is now the home of the museum. Drop by from 1 to 3 p.m., refreshments will be served. The museum is at 3065 West Second Ave.

Homebuyer education class available
The Regional Housing Alliance of La Plata County will offer a free monthly homebuyer education class.
The class is an eight-hour program designed to help participants purchase and own a home. Topics will include: Buyer readiness, budget/financial management, credit reports and scoring, mortgage lending, working with a realtor, homeowners insurance, home inspections, the closing process, home maintenance and foreclosure prevention. The class is facilitated by the alliance with contributions from local professionals such as loan officers, real estate agents and insurance agents who teach participants about their specific field of expertise.
The September class will be held in two sessions from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and finish from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 13. Registration is required.

Pet Haus to host adoption day today
The Pet Haus in Durango will host an adoption day with Lisa Parker’s Puppies from 12:30 to 3 p.m. today.
Puppies and adult dogs will be available for adoption. The store is located at 1444 Main Ave.

Annual pig roast to take place in Allison
The second annual pig roast will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Allison Community Church Yard in Allison.
The event will include roast pig, potato salad, coleslaw, dinner rolls, baked beans, homemade cobbler with ice cream, ice tea, lemonade and coffee. The cost for adults is $10, the cost for children ages 6 to 10 is $4, children younger than 6 are free.
