Interact will host a community-wide garage sale to support affordable home ownership in La Plata County from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Durango High School parking lot.
People can bring their gently used items to donate from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday to the DHS parking lot.
Candidates forum to take place Sept. 22
The La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Association will host its “Meet the Candidates” forum at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Pine Room of the Extension Building at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
Candidates will explain their positions; a question-and-answer session will follow their introduction. All La Plata County candidates running for office will be in attendance, with the exception of the U.S. House and Senate candidates. Light refreshments will be served.

History presentation to take place in Bayfield
“Herstory: Meet Betty Pellet and Ann Bassett” will be take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 in the community room of the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, Bayfield.
Terri Helm and Midge Kirk will transform themselves into Pellet and Bassett, giving participants a chance to hear their stories. In the 1940s through the 1960s, Pellet served in the state’s House of Representatives, eventually becoming the state’s first female minority leader. Meanwhile, Bassett is rumored to have been Etta Place, the girlfriend of the Sundance Kid.

Durango Natural Foods Co-op, 575 East Eighth Ave., will host these programs:
“Partnering Conventional & Holistic Medicine” with Cindy Schmidt of Pathways Physical Therapy and Holistic Health will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 23. Participants will learn how holistic practices and conventional medicine can partner successfully to help people get results.
“DIY Condiments” with Charis Rose will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 7. Rose will guide participants through the basics of homemade mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup.

Recovery Celebration to be held in Ignacio
Peaceful Spirit’s will host the fourth annual Recovery Celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the SunUte Community Center, 290 Moache Circle in Ignacio.
The event will honor the journey of recovery for people who are affected by alcoholism and other addictions.
