Anyone who has visited Hermosa Creek knows that it is not a typical “ice and rock” wilderness. Instead, it is a valley that supports critical habitat for many animals, including trophy elk and pure cutthroat trout. No wonder so many local sportsmen’s groups support the original Hermosa Creek protection bill. It also plays a critical role in our local water supply, and is a beautiful spot to spend a weekend hiking or mountain biking. As someone who has been truly impressed with the bipartisan effort put forth to protect Hermosa Creek, I hope Rep. Scott Tipton stands up for Coloradans and tells his fellow Republicans to lose the big-government amendment that strips the voices of our local businesses and voters in favor of a D.C., top-down dismissal of our hard work. I implore Tipton to hear the voice of his constituents and take action in Washington.
