Mike believes in common-sense solutions to climate change that can be acted on locally, like his support of House Bill 252 increasing renewable energy standards for electric utilities. La Plata County is blessed with abundant sun energy to go along with the oil and gas that is currently booming. A similar boom in solar energy would bring economic benefits to our region, and McLachlan’s support of HB 252 can help that solar energy boom happen. Rep. McLachlan is no climate radical. He is a thoughtful public servant who understands that it is essential to deliver to our children and grandchildren a healthy, productive world like the one we inherited from our parents. That is not a question of political ideology, as his opponent would have you think. It is a question of responsibility – one that J. Paul Brown is unwilling to take on, creating big problems for generations to come.
Rep. McLachlan is a strong leader, and one who understands that there must be a balance between the environment and the human activities that so often undermine it. Look for your ballot in the mail and make voting for Mike McLachlan your personal climate change march. The future for our children depends on it.
