50 years ago: GEM VILLAGE – “Sunday seems to have been a good day for a ride. The Armour Gearharts drove in the area of Cumbers Pass where they happened to come across the little train returning to Alamosa. Accompanying the Gearharts were Irene Shelhammer, Gertrude Etheridge and Jimmy Bowman.”

25 years ago: “Final student enrollment figures at Fort Lewis College indicate a new record for the institution. As of Sept. 1, the official census date, 3,984 students were enrolled in fall 1989 classes. That represents a 3.7 percent increase over last year’s enrollment of 3,842.”
