If he’s anything like me, he’s not the man he used to be. I can’t think as well, my memory is terrible, and my driving is best left to my wife. I can sympathize with him for sending his controversial email denigrating Durango to everyone by clicking reply all instead of just replying to the sender.

Computers are out to get us senior citizens and should be left to the young people who grew up with them. When I make a mistake like the sheriff’s, I realize I can’t trust my judgment anymore. I have to acknowledge I’m no longer the superman I used to think I was. At our ages, senility is approaching, and it’s time to rest on our laurels and find exciting hobbies. I imagine he’d get a good pension after all those years of dedicated service.

From one old guy to another, my advice for Sheriff Schirard is to take advantage of his remaining health and retire while he still has some marbles left.
